Protection from Abuse Policy

Abuse Policy

Expectancy Scanning Studios is committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for all staff members. We recognise that instances of abuse or aggression can occur, and it is our responsibility to protect our employees while maintaining professionalism and high-quality service. This policy outlines our approach to handling abusive behaviour towards staff and the measures we have in place to prevent and address such incidents.

1. Definition of Abuse

Abuse includes but is not limited to verbal threats, physical violence, harassment, intimidation, or any other behaviour that compromises the safety and well-being of our staff members.

2. Prevention Measures

a. No Lone Working: Staff members are not permitted to work alone. At least two employees must be present during all operating hours.

b. Sonographer Placement: Sonographer staff will be situated near the door in the scan room, ensuring clear access to the exit door for quick evacuation if necessary.

c. Front of House Support: Front of house staff will be supported by a sonographer in case of client aggression. The sonographer will not leave the staff member alone and will provide assistance as needed.

3. Protocol for Handling Abusive Behaviour

a. Immediate Response: Any staff member who experiences or witnesses abusive behaviour should immediately report it to their manager or supervisor.

b. Manager Contact Numbers: Contact numbers for managers or supervisors will be readily available and prominently displayed in the workplace for easy access.

c. Documentation: All incidents of abuse or aggression will be documented promptly and thoroughly.

d. Supportive Measures: Employees who have experienced abuse will be provided with appropriate support, including access to counselling services if needed.

e. Notification to Authorities: In cases of physical violence or threats, law enforcement authorities will be notified, and appropriate legal action will be pursued.

4. Training and Education

All staff members will receive comprehensive training on how to recognise and respond to abusive behaviour. This training will include de-escalation techniques, conflict resolution strategies, and guidance on when to seek assistance from a manager or supervisor.

5. Review and Updates

This policy will be reviewed regularly to ensure its effectiveness and relevance. Any necessary updates or revisions will be made in consultation with staff members and relevant stakeholders.

Expectancy Scanning Studios is committed to enforcing this abuse policy to protect the safety and well-being of our employees. We believe that by implementing these measures and fostering a culture of respect and support, we can create a secure and positive working environment for everyone.
